ASIA YOUNG DESIGNER AWARDS 2022-2023

SADA Student Wins Third Prize with Five of the Nine National Finalists being from the NUST School of Art, Design & Architecture

Fourth-year architecture students from the NUST School of Art, Design and Architecture (SADA) participated in the Asia Young Designer Awards (AYDA), Asia’s leading design competition. AYDA is part of Nippon Paint’s vision to nurture the next generation of design talents. The award serves as a platform to inspire architectural and interior design students to develop their skills through cross-learning opportunities and networking with key industry players, as well as fellow architectural and interior design peers in the region.

The theme for the AYDA Awards 2022-2023 was “Converge: Pushing the Reset Button” and the competition invited submissions from students all over Pakistan. We are proud to announce that in the architectural design category, five of the nine national finalists from Pakistan are students of the NUST School of Art, Design & Architecture. The students being Abdul Moiz, Abdullah Asif, Fizza Batool and Sadia Saeed. The finalists also include Ms. Hiba Rashid who went on to receive the 3rd winning prize from the Pakistan region. The students were guided, and their projects supervised by the 4th year architectural design studio instructors at SADA-NUST. The members of the faculty actively engaged in the production of student work for the competition include Ar. Safi Ullah, Ar. Nadia Usama and Ar. Farheen Asim.

The national finale was held in Lahore with well-renowned architects from all over Pakistan in attendance. The finalists were given the opportunity to present their projects in front of an audience consisting of various established as well as aspiring architects and interior designers from the country. AYDA has been growing in terms of reach and stature and has now established itself as one of Asia’s premier design awards. The competition has received more than 28,000 entries from over 900 tertiary education institutions to date, across 15 different geographical locations in Asia including Bangladesh, Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Malayasia, Iran, China, and India.
